H8, Zot, can someone explain to me the history of this site? Why do we have 123 members? What's the relationship between this site and syracuse gamers?

That's a good question that would take a long time to answer completely.

The short story is, it was a nickname for a group of my friends, which then expanded to be our local gaming group. A lot of people have moved away or drifted off over the years, which is why there are so many inactive members and old, unused junk.

The Syracuse Gamers are sort of another "clique" that grew out of Altered States. We weren't always really friends with them, partly because they focus more on tourney style stuff whereas we like more casual games, and partly because we really were separate groups years ago. We used to be more like them (lots of 20-something guys) and they used to be more like you (the young newbies). Although, they were more like the annoying, cheesy scrubs than just the younger guys.

As I said, a lot of our guys have moved on, and a lot of them have grown up some (in more ways than one), and so we're more friendly than we used to be, but they still stay kinda separated. They have their own thing, and I don't try to force them into ours.

Alright, thanks. I always wondered why there were two 40k websites for syracuse, but now I get it. I was jsut curious because Kevin wants to expand the SG website into CCgs and stuff (eew).

Heh, It's funny picturing those guys as kids.

it is better looking. You may well end up with more people using FB for stuff if SG starts covering Magic players and other stuff and drives away the 40k playing filth.
