I was awoken today with the usual chatter on the morning radio, and chuckled to myself as one of the new Altered States commercials came on.

[blah, blah, half asleep, blah]

Announcer: blah, blah, aren't games cool?

[blah, kids fighting over some game]

Announcer: Blah, blah. Remember, it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

Sis: You're cheating.
Billy: Am not.
Sis: Are too.
Billy: Am not.
Sis: Mom, Billy's touching me.

[blah]
Announcer: blah, blah, win, blah, lose, blah HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME.

Announcer2: That's right, Altered States is changing its name...
[spring fully awake]
Announcer2: ... to HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME. Remember, it's not whether you win or lose, it's HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME.

Ok, so I didn't really spring out of bed, because... well, because that doesn't happen. I was still half asleep. But I was no longer comfortable dammit!

How You Play the Game?!? Oh, man. I suppose it's better than something generic and lame like The Game Spot or Games Workshop or Comix Zone, but...

Yeah I found out when I did the last calendar for the store. I made it a big announcement on the front. Chris kept it pretty hush-hush... even from his staff.

I'm not too keen on it yet and I thought he had established a pretty good brand name and name recognition, but maybe he thought he could do better. I guess a lot of people were under the impression that Altered States was drug related in some way. Really doesn't matter what we think anyhow. Still I'll miss the unique name of Altered States.

I liked the old Altered States logo more than the boring new one.
Another disturbing thought-- no 40k tournaments this month, a new trend?
I hope not.

I still can't find any 40k tournaments on the new february events calendar, yet they seem to have the time to have a big Magic pre-release party... lame
